Charting a path toward success

Why does the Rio de Las Trampas Community Forest Stewardship matter? This unique program is the first step in charting a path toward successful collaboration, forest resiliency, and community ownership of the health of these lands and the intersection of our natural and build environments.

The Rio de Las Forest Council published an in-depth article in La Jicarita, an online magazine of environmental politics in New Mexico, explaining just what this stewardship program aims to accomplish.

Sometimes, accomplishments in forest restoration are not measured in acres or cords of wood. Success can also be measured by the strength of connections built between a community, the forests that sustain them, and the partnerships that manage them.

As the Council states in the article, “the way forward lies in partnering with stakeholders who are willing to spend the time and energy to achieve on-the-ground results—healthy watersheds that support healthy communities—in a responsible and transparent partnership.”
