Community Forestry Work Day - 22 October 2023

Current leñeros and individuals interested in community forestry in the Trampas area are invited to join the Rio de Las Trampas Forest Council and Forest Mayordomo Project partners for a community forestry day on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023!

The group will use this time to build connection and community between leñeros, revisit and evaluate the success of erosion control structures that were constructed in the spring, complete thinning and clean up slash in unfinished units, and help one another with challenging areas, such as steep slopes, in assigned units.

All participants will receive fuelwood permits to haul fuelwood that they help to cut during the working day. Those who are interested in attending are asked to please bring a sack lunch, chainsaw or other cutting tools (if certified through the NM Forest Industry Association’s 3-day chainsaw safety course), and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Time: Sunday, October 22nd, 11am-5pm
Place: turnoff to Trampas CFRP worksite on Forest Rd 207, 0.9 miles south of Hwy 76
